Tragic Fire Claims Lives of Two Employees at Bailey Road Restaurant

Two employees of Kacchi Bhai restaurant tragically lost their lives in a devastating fire that broke out at a seven-storey building on Bailey Road in the heart of the capital city on Thursday night. The victims have been identified as Jihad Hossain, 22, and Rocky, 20, who were working at the restaurant at the time of the incident.

According to the Manager of the restaurant, Jisan, there were 25 staff members on duty when the fire started, resulting in the unfortunate demise of two of their colleagues. The fire is believed to have originated from a nearby tea shop called Chumuk, leading to the rapid spread of flames throughout the building.

The fire claimed the lives of at least 45 people and left over 20 others with severe injuries. Firefighters worked tirelessly to rescue 70 individuals, including 42 who were found unconscious on the rooftop and various floors of the Green Cozy Cottage building.

The blaze reportedly started at the first-floor restaurant, Kacchi Bhai, around 9:45 pm, while numerous patrons were dining inside. As the fire rapidly engulfed the building, many people were forced to jump from the structure or suffered fatal injuries from burns and smoke inhalation.

Fire officials revealed that the presence of gas cylinders in the restaurant kitchens on multiple floors contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. Additionally, thick smoke in the staircase hindered the evacuation efforts, trapping many individuals inside the building.

The tragic incident has left the community in mourning, as the loss of lives and injuries sustained in the fire have deeply impacted the local residents and businesses in the area. Authorities are conducting investigations to determine the exact cause of the fire and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
