Tragic Incident in Antioch, Illinois
ANTIOCH, Ill. – A heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded in the quiet town of Antioch, Illinois, when a 17-year-old lost his life due to a drug overdose. The incident took place last year, and the repercussions are still being felt throughout the community.
Jack Foley, a 20-year-old individual, has been apprehended by the Antioch police for his alleged involvement in selling drugs to the young teen. Foley faces serious charges, including drug-induced homicide and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. These charges highlight the severity of the situation and the devastating consequences of drug abuse.
The unfortunate event occurred at a residence located in the 400 block of IL Route 173, where the teen was discovered unresponsive in the early hours of the morning on February 11. Despite efforts to revive him, the young individual was pronounced dead shortly after.
Following a thorough investigation conducted by the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, it was determined that the teen had succumbed to a lethal dose of fentanyl after consuming counterfeit opioid pills known as Perc 30. These pills, laced with fentanyl, proved to be fatal and tragically claimed the life of the young victim.
Foley, identified as an acquaintance of the deceased teen, was found to have supplied him with the dangerous pills that led to the fatal outcome. An arrest warrant was issued for Foley on February 22, and he was subsequently taken into custody on February 28.
Antioch Police Chief Geoffrey Guttschow expressed his dismay over the incident, emphasizing the need for awareness and education surrounding the dangers of drug abuse.
