Man Hospitalized After Being Shot Multiple Times on I-5 Near Tukwila

A man is currently in the hospital recovering after a terrifying ordeal on southbound I-5 near Tukwila. Last Monday night, just before 11 p.m., the man, identified as Evan Hershey, was driving on I-5 near the I-405 interchange when he was shot multiple times in what Washington State Patrol (WSP) believes to be a random shooting.

Details of the Incident

According to WSP Trooper Rick Johnson, Hershey’s vehicle was hit multiple times, and he sustained gunshot wounds as well. The family of Hershey, a Navy veteran who commutes on I-5 daily, has set up a GoFundMe page to assist with his medical expenses.

Despite being shot in the knee and spine, Hershey managed to bring his car to a safe stop and call 911. His brother, Adam Hershey, recounts that Evan showed incredible strength and resilience by performing his own wound care and coordinating emergency services under fire.
