Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The Discovery of Human Remains in Volusia County, Florida

In a recent development in Volusia County, Florida, detectives made a chilling discovery at a mobile home park. The uncovered human remains are believed to belong to Autumn McClure, a teenage girl who went missing two decades ago. Autumn was reported missing in May 2004 from her grandmother’s residence in the Ormond Beach area.

The Mysterious Disappearance of Autumn McClure

Autumn’s disappearance left her family and authorities puzzled for years. Initially, her grandmother received communication indicating that Autumn was safe and would return home after she turned 18. However, Autumn never made her way back. This led to a prolonged investigation by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office to unravel the mystery surrounding her disappearance.

New Leads and Suspects Surface

During the course of their investigation, detectives learned that Autumn had been staying with a woman she worked with at a grocery store and her boyfriend, Brian Christopher Donley Jr., at the Shady Oaks mobile home park. Donley, identified as a suspect in Autumn’s killing, and his girlfriend initially claimed ignorance about Autumn’s whereabouts after she stayed with them briefly.

A Breakthrough in the Case

Despite the passing years, detectives continued to pursue leads in Autumn’s case. In 2021, new evidence emerged, suggesting that Donley and his girlfriend may have been involved in Autumn’s death. This led to a significant development, with the girlfriend being offered immunity in exchange for information. She revealed that she had witnessed Donley kill Autumn in the trailer, fearing for her own life if she spoke out.

Excavation and Closure

To bring closure to the case and provide answers to Autumn’s family, investigators and forensic experts had the trailer and concrete removed for excavation. An estimated 99% of the remains believed to be Autumn’s were recovered from the site. Tragically, Donley passed away in 2022 at the age of 49, preventing any legal prosecution in the case.

Final Thoughts

Sheriff Mike Chitwood expressed his hopes that Donley, in his final moments, reflected on the heinous crime he committed. The discovery of Autumn’s remains may finally bring some closure to her family and friends, shedding light on a dark chapter that haunted them for over two decades..
