A member of the DMK party was brutally murdered by a gang of five individuals in Tamil Nadu’s Chengalpet district. The victim, identified as Aramudhan, held key positions within the party, serving as the secretary of the Kattankulathur Union (North) unit and deputy chairman of the Kattankulathur Panchayat Union.

Details of the Incident

The tragic incident took place as Aramudhan, who was in his mid-50s, was on his way to inspect a bus shelter on the Vandalur-Walajabad Road. The bus shelter was scheduled to be inaugurated the following day, coinciding with Chief Minister M K Stalin’s birthday. As Aramudhan approached the area in his car around 7 pm, he was ambushed by the gang who had been lying in wait. The assailants threw petrol bombs at his vehicle and then proceeded to attack him with knives and sickles as he attempted to flee.

Passers-by witnessed the brutal assault and promptly alerted the authorities. Aramudhan was rushed to the Government Chromepet Hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.

Police Investigation

Tambaram City Police Commissioner A Amal Raj revealed that the perpetrators, all hailing from the same locality as Aramudhan, have been identified and are currently under investigation. The police have launched a thorough probe into the incident to bring the culprits to justice.
