Aurangabad Madrasa Incident: 16-Year-Old Student Assaulted Over Alleged Theft

Located in the state of Maharashtra, Aurangabad, recently renamed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, became the setting for a disturbing incident at a local Madrasa. A 16-year-old student from Surat found himself at the center of a violent ordeal, all stemming from the alleged theft of a Rs 100 watch.

The Jamia Burhanul Uloom Madrasa in Aurangabad was where the teenager was enrolled when the incident unfolded. Caught on CCTV footage stealing an automatic watch from a nearby shop, the student soon found himself facing the consequences of his actions.

Brutal Punishment Meted Out

After the shopkeeper filed a complaint and the stolen watch was recovered, the situation escalated rapidly. The cleric at the Madrasa, identified as Maulana Syed Omar Ali, took it upon himself to administer what has been described as “brutal punishment” to the young student.

Stripped half-naked, the teenager was subjected to spitting and a systematic beating by his fellow students, all allegedly under the orders of the cleric. The incident was captured on camera and eventually reached the victim’s family, leading to a formal complaint being lodged with the local police.

Legal Action Taken

A case was duly registered against Maulana Syed Omar Ali under the Minor Students Protection Act. While the minors who participated in the assault were later provided with counseling, legal proceedings against the cleric are currently underway.

In a bid to address the incident and ensure justice is served, the authorities are actively pursuing the matter to bring closure to the victim and his family.
