Four Youths Arrested After Gunfight in Amroha District

The Greater Noida police have apprehended four young individuals following a dramatic gunfight that took place late Wednesday night. The suspects are accused of killing their friend, Yash Mittal, and burying his body in a pit located in the rural expanse of Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rachit Nagar, Sumit Singh, Sushant Verma, and Shivam Singh, all residents of Amroha.

Background of the Incident

Yash Mittal, a student at Bennett University in Greater Noida, hails from Amroha. Concerned about his sudden disappearance, Mittal’s parents contacted the authorities when he failed to return to his hostel. Upon investigation, it was discovered that Mittal and his friends had attended a party in a forested area in Tigariya, Amroha, on Monday. Tragically, Mittal’s lifeless body was unearthed from a 6-foot pit in a field just two days later.

Sequence of Events

According to Greater Noida DCP Saad Miya Khan, CCTV footage revealed Mittal leaving his college premises on the fateful day while engaged in a phone conversation. Subsequent analysis of call records pointed towards Rachit Nagar as a person of interest in the case. Upon interrogation, Nagar confessed to being present at the party alongside Mittal, Sumit Singh, Sushant Verma, Shivam Singh, and Shubham Chaudhary. An altercation ensued, resulting in Mittal’s tragic demise. The group then callously buried his body in the field.

Arrests Made and Ongoing Investigation

While four suspects are now in custody, three additional individuals involved in the crime were apprehended after a police encounter. One individual, Shubham Chaudhary, remains at large. Khan further revealed that the perpetrators attempted to extort money from Mittal’s family post-murder to mislead both the authorities and the victim’s loved ones.

Legal Ramifications

An FIR has been lodged at the Dadri police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including kidnapping, murder, tampering with evidence, and criminal conspiracy. The investigation into this heinous crime is ongoing, with authorities committed to delivering justice for Yash Mittal and his grieving family.
