Deadly Shooting in Kansas City Apartment Complex

A 23-year-old Kansas City man, Tyler Thompson, is facing 26 felony charges in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred on Monday night outside an apartment complex. Jackson County prosecutors have charged Thompson with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Details of the Incident

The tragic incident took place just before 7 p.m. on Monday in the area of Hickory Road and Oak Leaf Drive in Kansas City. Kansas City police officers responded to a report of a shooting and found the victim, 28-year-old Mauliek Taylor, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Unfortunately, Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. Spent shell casings were discovered near the victim and a vehicle.

Drug Transaction Gone Wrong

According to court documents, evidence suggests that Thompson and another individual met with the victim and another man to complete a drug transaction. It is alleged that Thompson opened fire with a rifle, resulting in the death of Mauliek Taylor.
