Hyderabad: In a tragic case of drunk driving, three individuals lost their lives in an accident that occurred in Siddipet district on Wednesday. The incident unfolded when a speeding car collided with a bike, resulting in the deaths of two individuals on the bike and one individual in the car. Both vehicles subsequently veered off the road and plunged into a nearby canal.

The deceased have been identified as Jakkala Mamatha, 28, who was in the car with her husband, Jakkala Anil, the driver who was found to be in an inebriated state, and two farmers named Katta Ravi, 55, and Mukkera Ialaiah, 58, who were riding the bike at the time of the accident.

According to the police report, Anil, Mamatha, and their relatives were returning home to Siddipet after attending a wedding in Husnabad. On the other hand, Ravi and Ilaiah were en route to the Siddipet agricultural market when the collision took place.

At around 4 pm on Wednesday, as both vehicles were traveling on the Siddipet-Warangal highway near Rajagopalpet, Anil lost control of the car, swerved to the right, and crashed into the oncoming bike. The impact of the collision caused Ravi and Ilaiah to sustain fatal injuries, leading to their immediate demise. The bike and car both ended up in the canal following the crash, with Mamatha tragically succumbing to her injuries at the scene.

Circle Inspector of Siddipet Rural M Srinu stated that the injured parties, including Anil, were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Anil’s blood samples will be collected for a drunk driving test. A case has been registered under sections 304A and 337 of the IPC, and the investigation will progress based on the evidence gathered.

In light of this tragic incident, it serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drunk driving and the devastating consequences it can have on individuals and families.
