Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting of Denton Teen

Authorities in Denton have apprehended a suspect in the tragic shooting of a 16-year-old teen earlier this month. The incident took place near Denia Park, at the intersection of Roselawn Drive and Bernard Street, where the victim, Ely Mendez Gomez, was found unresponsive in a vehicle with a fatal gunshot wound.

On the night of February 3rd, witnesses reported seeing a bullet hole in the vehicle’s window and described the suspect as wearing all dark clothing and a ski mask. A female passenger who was present during the shooting identified the suspect as Marcus Williams, 19, from Sanger, who is said to be her boyfriend.

Following an investigation that included reviewing surveillance footage, authorities were able to locate and arrest Williams in the 1500 block of West University Drive in Denton. He is currently detained at the Denton jail, facing a murder charge. His bail has not been set at this time.
