The Arrest of Suspects in the Fatal Shooting of Carlos DeJesus-Godineaux in Akron
Two individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the tragic death of 26-year-old Akron resident Carlos DeJesus-Godineaux, who was found shot to death on the 900 block of Bellevue Avenue. The incident, which occurred on February 19, sent shockwaves through the community.
Identification of Suspects
Following an intensive investigation, authorities were able to identify two suspects believed to be involved in the fatal shooting of Godineaux. The suspects were identified as a 15-year-old male and an 18-year-old male named Jontay Johnson.
Apprehension of Suspects
On Wednesday morning, the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force successfully tracked down and apprehended 18-year-old Jontay Johnson at Belden Village Mall in Canton. Johnson was taken into custody without incident and later booked into Summit County Jail for questioning.
The 15-year-old male suspect was also apprehended earlier in the week in the 1000 block of Copley Road. Evidence was collected from a residence on Manchester Road in connection with the case.
Charges and Ongoing Investigation
Both suspects have been charged with aggravated murder and aggravated robbery in relation to the death of Carlos DeJesus-Godineaux. The investigation is still ongoing as detectives work to determine if any other individuals were involved in the crime.

Acting Police Chief Brian Harding expressed his gratitude to the community and law enforcement partners for their assistance in the case. He also extended a special thank you to the US Marshals for their support in bringing the suspects to justice.
