Authorities in Walton County, Georgia, are currently investigating the cause of a tragic fire that occurred at a metro Atlanta apartment complex. The incident took place at the Mews apartment complex on Meadows Drive in Loganville in the early hours of Monday morning.

City officials in Walton County informed Channel 2 Action News that at 1:23 a.m., emergency crews responded to reports of a fire at the apartment complex. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with heavy smoke billowing from several units, prompting them to quickly evacuate residents from the building.

As crews conducted a thorough search of the building to ensure all residents were safe, they tragically discovered two victims inside one of the units. The victims have been identified as 70-year-old Bonnie Nightingale and 79-year-old Geraldine Cribb. Both individuals were found in the same unit and unfortunately perished in the fire.

TWO LIVES LOST IN TRAGIC INCIDENT

Authorities have confirmed that there were no other reported injuries as a result of the fire. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation, with officials working diligently to determine what led to this devastating event.
