San Jose Police Apprehend Suspect in 2018 Triple Shooting

In a significant development, San Jose police have announced the arrest of Miguel Vergara Perez, the primary suspect behind a triple shooting that took place in 2018. The 26-year-old suspect, hailing from Rohnert Park, was apprehended by authorities, bringing closure to a case that shocked the local community.

Incident at La Victoria Taqueria

The incident unfolded outside the popular San Jose restaurant, La Victoria Taqueria, located at 5015 Almaden Expressway, on August 9, 2018. Shocking surveillance footage captured the moment Perez allegedly shot three men in a heated altercation. The video also shows a young girl and her mother in close proximity to the gunman, highlighting the terror that ensued during the shooting.

Release of Surveillance Video

Following the incident, San Jose Police Department released the surveillance video to the public in an attempt to identify the perpetrator. Despite initial challenges, detectives revisited the case three months ago, leading to new leads that ultimately led to Perez’s arrest in Rohnert Park.

Reopening of the Case

After the case had gone cold, SJPD officers diligently pursued new leads, culminating in the apprehension of Perez in December. The suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted homicide and booked into a Santa Clara County jail, marking a significant breakthrough in the investigation.
