Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Music Producer Convicted for Retaliatory Shooting Over Drug Debt

A music producer, known as ‘Menace to Society’, has been convicted after repeatedly shooting through a window in retaliation over a £3.50 drug debt in Catford, London.

The incident took place in April 2023 on Nelgarde Road, where a man narrowly escaped serious injury or death after being shot at through a window by a masked assailant. The victim suffered only superficial wounds from flying glass, but the property sustained extensive damage.

Marcus Adepoju, 31, the perpetrator behind the shooting, was tracked down by police through hours of CCTV footage. He was found to have walked from a house in Hither Green to the scene of the crime and then back to the same house, which led officers to focus their investigation on individuals frequenting the property.

Adepoju was later seen traveling from the house to a storage facility in nearby Forest Hill, where a search uncovered two firearms, ammunition, drugs, cash, and knives. Another storage unit linked to him was also found to contain additional ammunition, cash, and drugs.

Det Constable John Nightingale commented on the case, stating, “Adepoju is an extremely dangerous individual who had no qualms about shooting a man through a window on a busy residential street.” He added, “Keeping Londoners safe is our top priority, and reducing gun crime is a key part of this. As this case shows, we know gun crime is closely linked to drugs, and we will continue to use all of our resources to take both off the streets of our capital.”

Marcus Adepoju will face sentencing on Friday 12 April for a string of firearms and drug offences. The authorities believe that his actions have reinforced his stage name ‘Menace To Society’, and he will now pay the price for his crimes.

In a city where safety is paramount, incidents like these serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals involved in drug-related crimes. The swift action taken by law enforcement in this case highlights their commitment to keeping the streets of London safe for all residents.
