The Arrest of a Suspect in the January Homicide at Cedar Glen Apartments

South Bend police have made a significant breakthrough in the case of a January homicide that occurred at Cedar Glen Apartments. The incident took place on January 18th at around 8:30 p.m. on the 400 block of South 26th Street. Upon arrival, authorities found 51-year-old Dennis Cunningham suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene, making this the only fatal homicide in South Bend in January 2024.

Investigation and Arrest

Following a thorough investigation and the processing of evidence by the South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, a suspect was identified. 56-year-old Anthony Perry was taken into custody on February 23rd in connection to Cunningham’s death. Perry has been charged with Reckless Homicide by the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office, with an additional charge for Firearm Enhancement. He is currently being held at the St. Joseph County Jail.
