Last week, tragedy struck in Akron, Ohio, as a fatal shooting claimed the life of 26-year-old Carlos Godineaux. The incident took place in the 900 block of Bellevue Avenue on Monday, Feb. 19. The victim was found on the ground with gunshot wounds and later succumbed to his injuries at Cleveland Clinic Akron General.

Arrests Made in Connection to Murder

After an intensive investigation, Akron police detectives identified two suspects, aged 15 and 18, in connection to the murder. Warrants were issued for their arrest, leading to a swift response from law enforcement.

On Monday, Akron police officers apprehended the 15-year-old suspect at a residence on the 1000 block of Copley Road. During the arrest, authorities also discovered a handgun at the location, linking the suspect to the crime.

The following Wednesday morning, the US Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force successfully located and arrested the 18-year-old suspect, Jontay Johnson, at Belden Village in Canton.
