Akron Man Fatally Shot in South Arlington Street

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Akron as 47-year-old Patrick Boergert from Barberton. The incident took place on Friday night on the 1300 block of South Arlington Street, where Boergert was shot and later found on the 800 block of East Wilbeth Road by Akron police.

Details of the Incident

Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered Boergert with a gunshot wound to the torso. Despite administering first aid, he was later transported to Summa Health Akron City Hospital, where he tragically passed away.

Arrest Made in Connection with the Shooting

Following the incident, a 16-year-old male was arrested at a residence on the 1000 block of South Arlington Street and charged with felonious assault. Akron police have stated that additional charges are expected to be filed in connection with the shooting.

Remembering Patrick Boergert

Patrick Boergert, originally from Cleveland, had been residing in the Akron area for the past five years. Described as a dedicated volunteer at his local church and an avid singer, he is survived by three daughters, three sons, seven grandchildren, two siblings, and his mother.
