In a recent study conducted in Pakistan, it has been revealed that a significant portion of the population considers themselves to be “food lovers”. According to the findings, 51% of Pakistanis identify as individuals who have a great love for food, while 45% stated that they simply eat to sustain themselves.

Survey Details

The study, conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, involved a national survey that posed a simple yet revealing question to participants: “Are you a food lover, or do you just eat to stay alive?” The results showed that there was a clear divide in responses based on gender.

Gender Divide

Among the male respondents, 52% considered themselves to be “food lovers”, while 44% stated that they eat solely for survival. On the other hand, 45% of female participants identified as “food lovers”, with 51% indicating that they eat just to stay alive.

Urban-Rural Disparity

Interestingly, the study also found a disparity between urban and rural populations in terms of food preferences. It was noted that 48% of those who identified as “food lovers” hailed from rural areas, while 54% were from urban settings.

Implications of the Study

These findings shed light on the diverse eating habits and preferences of the Pakistani population. The fact that a majority of respondents see themselves as “food lovers” highlights the importance of food culture in the country.
