A tragic incident unfolded in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, where a memorial now stands for a deli worker who was fatally shot in the head. The killer is still at large as the community mourns the loss of 37-year-old Nasim Barry.

The Incident

The harrowing events took place on Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights around 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Barry, a beloved member of the neighborhood, was working at the deli when a dispute escalated into a senseless act of violence.

According to reports, the gunman asked Barry to purchase a Black and Mild cigar for him. When Barry declined, the man left, only to return moments later with a gun. Barry was found with a gunshot wound to the head and tragically succumbed to his injuries at NYC Health + Hospitals – Kings County.

The Community’s Response

Residents and loved ones are reeling from the loss of Barry, describing him as a kind and generous soul who always went out of his way to help others. His mother, Danette Hollie, expressed her devastation, highlighting the senselessness of the crime.

As the search for the gunman continues, the United Bodegas of America has offered a $10,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest. Both the President of UBA, Radahmes Rodriguez, and spokesman Fernando Mateo have condemned the violence, calling for justice for Barry and his family.

Call for Action

With no arrests made yet, the NYPD is urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in apprehending the perpetrator. The description of the suspect, wearing a black and gold sweater, remains the only lead in the ongoing investigation.

The Barry family, along with the entire community, is seeking closure and justice for Nasim. The tragic loss of a dedicated worker and beloved member of the neighborhood has sent shockwaves through Crown Heights.
