The suspect in the fatal shooting of a Sterling man at an Ashburn apartment complex on Feb. 14 has surrendered himself to the authorities, as confirmed by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Details of the Incident

Rashaun D. Owens, the suspect, voluntarily turned himself in at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. He now faces charges of second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and attempted robbery with a firearm.

The tragic incident took place at the Ashburn Meadows apartment complex located in the 44400 block of Keller Square. Sheriff’s deputies were alerted to the scene following 911 calls reporting a gunshot and an unresponsive individual. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim in the parking lot with a fatal gunshot wound.

Victim Identification

The victim has been identified as Michai Dandridge-Carter, a 19-year-old resident of Sterling.
