The Dramatic River Rescue in Guerneville

A woman found herself in a life-threatening situation on Sunday when she was swept into the Russian River in Guerneville, California. The river was swollen from recent rains, creating treacherous conditions with fast-moving rapids and debris.

A Heroic Effort by Law Enforcement

Sonoma Sheriff Sgt. Gary Lawson sprang into action when he spotted the woman struggling to stay afloat near Fife Creek. Despite the dangerous circumstances, Lawson bravely entered the cold water to rescue the woman. Deputy Anthony Powers quickly provided a life vest, allowing Lawson to safely approach the struggling individual.

A Struggle for Survival

The woman, later identified as Lacey Mosher, put up a fierce fight against Sgt. Lawson as he attempted to rescue her. Even as he managed to control her and swim towards safety, Mosher continued to resist. Deputy Cody McCready joined the rescue effort, but Mosher’s resistance made it challenging to reach the shore.

A Team Effort Saves the Day

Sonoma County Fire District personnel arrived with a small boat to assist in the rescue. Mosher was safely brought to shore, followed by Sgt. Lawson and Deputy McCready. The deputies were treated for exposure to the cold water at the scene, highlighting the risks they took to save a life.

Despite the heroic efforts of law enforcement, Mosher’s behavior continued to pose a threat. She was taken to a hospital for treatment, where she assaulted first responders and medical personnel. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Mosher would face multiple charges related to the incident.
