Authorities in Clallam County are on the lookout for a man who went on a crime spree involving multiple thefts in Port Angeles, Washington. The suspect, identified as James Kingsland, 46, of Port Hadlock, is wanted for breaking into an animal shelter, stealing their truck, and stealing a FedEx truck.

Break-In at Peninsula Friends of Animals Cat Shelter

The incident began on February 26 at around 6:22 a.m. when deputies responded to a burglary at the Peninsula Friends of Animals cat shelter located at milepost 257 on Highway 101. Surveillance footage captured Kingsland arriving in a green Chevy Astro van before entering the shelter and stealing various items.

Deputies revealed that Kingsland rifled through cupboards, took syringes, and left behind a t-shirt inside the building. He then proceeded to steal a 1989 maroon Chevrolet truck registered to the cat shelter before fleeing the scene.

Theft of FedEx Truck

Later that morning, at approximately 9:03 a.m., deputies received a report of a stolen FedEx truck at a warehouse on Easy Street in Port Angeles. Employees informed authorities that the suspect had punched the ignition of the truck, driven it around the area, and abandoned it at the scene.

The stolen truck was equipped with an internal dash cam that captured footage of Kingsland inside the vehicle. Additionally, Kingsland was caught on camera entering other vehicles at the FedEx facility and stealing a box of cameras.

Authorities on the Hunt

Deputies have gathered enough evidence to charge Kingsland with two counts of burglary, four counts of vehicle prowl, theft, malicious mischief, and two counts of theft of a motor vehicle. If anyone has information on Kingsland’s whereabouts, they are urged to contact 911 or leave a tip on the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office website.
