Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Two Men Found Guilty in Murder of Jam Master Jay in Brooklyn, New York

In a recent development in Brooklyn, New York, two men from Queens have been convicted on all charges related to the murder of Jam Master Jay, a member of the legendary hip-hop group Run-DMC. The incident, which occurred on Oct. 30, 2002, sent shockwaves through the music industry and beyond.

Karl Jordan Jr., also known as “Little D” and “Noid,” alongside Ronald Washington, also known as “Tinard,” were found guilty of one count of murder while engaged in narcotics trafficking and one count of firearm-related murder for the fatal shooting of Jam Master Jay, whose real name was Jason Mizell.

The trial, which began on Jan. 29, unveiled a chilling sequence of events leading up to the murder. Prosecutors alleged that Jordan and Washington entered Mizell’s recording studio, 24/7 Studio, located on Merrick Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens, at approximately 7:30 p.m. on that fateful day. Washington brandished a firearm, ordering an individual to the floor, while Jordan fired two shots at Mizell at close range, resulting in his tragic death.

Alleged Motive Behind the Murder

According to prosecutors, the motive behind the murder stemmed from a drug deal gone awry. Mizell was reportedly planning to exclude Jordan and Washington from a lucrative cocaine distribution deal, involving approximately 10 kilograms of cocaine sourced from a supplier in the Midwest. This decision allegedly led the two defendants to conspire to eliminate Mizell, in fear of losing out on the profits.

Ralph Mullgrav, a key witness in the trial, testified that Mizell was not a drug dealer but had engaged in drug sales to make ends meet. However, the DJ’s family vehemently disputes these claims, highlighting the complexities surrounding the case.

Legal Ramifications and Sentencing

As the trial concluded, both Jordan and Washington face severe consequences for their actions. Each defendant is staring at a minimum of 20 years to life in prison or even the death penalty, as per the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. The prosecution team, led by acting United States Attorney Seth DuCharme, emphasized the gravity of the crime and the relentless pursuit of justice.

Despite the defense attorneys’ arguments regarding the lack of physical evidence linking their clients to the murder, the guilty verdict underscores a significant breakthrough in the long-standing case.

Jason Mizell’s legacy as a pioneering figure in the hip-hop industry remains indelible, with his contributions alongside Run DMC immortalized in music history. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipients continue to inspire generations of artists worldwide.
