A tragic incident unfolded in Yonkers, NY, when a teenager was arrested and charged with murder following a fatal shooting of a 51-year-old acquaintance. The Yonkers Police Department responded to the scene of the crime on Mount Carmel Place early Wednesday morning.

Details of the Incident

Just before 5 a.m, authorities received a report of a man injured in a pickup truck at Willow Street and Mount Carmel Place. Upon arrival, they found Francisco Gordillo, a 51-year-old Yonkers resident, with a gunshot wound to his head inside the pickup. Despite efforts to save his life, Gordillo was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigation and Arrest

Detectives from the Major Case Squad, Crime Scene Unit, and Digital Forensics Unit led the investigation into the killing. It was revealed that an argument ensued between Gordillo and the teenager, identified as Ludvin Ramos-Cervantes, who left the scene briefly but returned armed with a gun. The situation escalated when Ramos-Cervantes allegedly fired a .45 caliber firearm, fatally striking Gordillo in the head.

Statements from Officials

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano expressed his condolences, stating, “We don’t want to see anyone lose their lives to violence, especially in our City.” Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza commended the detectives for their work in apprehending the suspect and bringing them to justice.

The 18-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Monday and has been charged with second-degree murder. Sapienza emphasized that resorting to violence is never acceptable, regardless of the severity of a dispute.
