East Chicago Police are currently investigating the untimely death of Craig Jones, a respected special education teacher and basketball coach at East Chicago Lighthouse Charter School. The incident occurred over the weekend inside the school premises located at 3916 Pulaski St.

Describing Jones as an “amazing spirit”, Jessica Beasley, the school’s executive director, extended her condolences to his family and the entire Northwest Indiana school community. In a statement released to school families, Beasley highlighted Jones’ dedication to his students both in the classroom and on the basketball court.
The Mysterious Circumstances Surrounding Jones’ Passing
According to a preliminary police investigation, Jones contacted his family on the evening of February 22, informing them that he would be working late at the school. He later called for a ride home at around 10:30 p.m., but tragically, he never emerged from the building to meet his family member.

On the morning of February 23, maintenance personnel made a grim discovery on the second-floor stairwell landing of the school. Jones, 47, was found deceased, sparking a response from the Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force to further investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
