Accident – Death – Obituary News : Imagine waking up to the devastating news that your beloved pet has been fatally beaten by someone you trusted to care for them. This nightmare became a reality for Jason, a resident of Singapore, whose poodle, Boyboy, met a tragic end at the hands of his newly hired domestic worker.

The incident, which occurred on 22 January, came to light through a Facebook post by veteran animal activist Derrick Tan. In the post, Tan detailed how Jason’s girlfriend discovered Boyboy’s lifeless body while she was resting at home. Initially attributing the dog’s death to natural causes, they decided to cremate him.

However, suspicions arose when Jason noticed unusual signs in Boyboy’s remains and decided to review the CCTV footage. Shockingly, the footage revealed that the domestic worker had subjected Boyboy to brutal abuse, ultimately leading to his death.

The footage, shared in Tan’s post, shows the domestic worker inflicting multiple blows to the dog’s head with her hands and a makeshift rod. She then hangs the dog on the balcony railing while filling a bucket with water, displaying a callous disregard for the animal’s well-being.

Upon discovering the horrifying truth, Jason wasted no time in filing a police report and informing the relevant authorities about the domestic worker’s actions. Despite his efforts, he faced a lack of concern from the agency responsible for overseeing such cases.

In response to the alleged animal abuse, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) swiftly launched an investigation into the matter. Aarthi Sankar, the Executive Director of SPCA, condemned the domestic worker’s actions as “brutal” and “appalling,” emphasizing the organization’s commitment to seeking justice for innocent animals.

In Singapore, animal cruelty is a punishable offence, with fines of up to S$15,000 and imprisonment for up to 18 months for first-time offenders. Repeat offenders may face even harsher penalties. Sankar urged authorities to pursue the maximum penalty for those found guilty, reiterating SPCA’s unwavering stance against all forms of animal cruelty.

SPCA Singapore also urged pet owners to remain vigilant in ensuring their pets’ safety and well-being, especially when delegating care responsibilities. If you suspect any instances of animal cruelty or neglect, you can contact SPCA’s 24/7 hotline or submit a report through their website.
