Tragic Shooting Incident in Worcester
Worcester, a bustling city in Massachusetts, was rocked by a tragic incident that resulted in the loss of a young life. A 17-year-old male was fatally shot on Shannon Street in the early hours of February 12. The community was left reeling as details of the shooting began to emerge.
Suspects Arrested and Charged
Following intensive investigation and pursuit of leads, Worcester police apprehended two suspects connected to the shooting. Kidam Oquendo, a 21-year-old man from 11 Wawecus Road, Apt. 2, Worcester, and Alexis Medeiros, an 18-year-old woman from Gardner with an apartment on Chandler Street in Worcester, were arrested on Friday night.
Oquendo faces a slew of charges, including assault to murder, attempted assault and battery with a firearm, and possession of ammunition without a FID card. Medeiros, on the other hand, is charged with accessory after the fact and obstruction of justice.
Court Proceedings and Additional Charges
During their arraignment at Worcester Central District Court, it was revealed that Oquendo had prior legal issues, including an open case in Superior Court. Back in July, he was charged with possession of a loaded machine gun and possession of a large capacity firearm. Judge Timothy M. Bibaud ordered Oquendo to be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on March 4.
Medeiros, who was arraigned shortly after Oquendo, had her bail set at $2,500 by Judge Bibaud. If she makes bail, she will be placed under house arrest with a monitoring device. A probable cause hearing for Medeiros is scheduled for March 28.

The shooting took place in the early hours of the morning, with officers responding to gunshots detected by the ShotSpotter system. The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, was dropped off at St. Vincent Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
