Tragedy struck in southwestern Alberta as a man lost his life after being buried in an avalanche while snowmobiling. The incident took place in the back-country area near the Castle Mountain Resort, located in the picturesque Crowsnest Pass.

Avalanche Strikes Snowmobilers

According to the RCMP in Crowsnest Pass, two men and two children were enjoying a day of snowmobiling when disaster struck. A sudden avalanche swept through the area, trapping one of the men under the snow. The other man, along with both children, managed to escape the deadly slide.

Recovery Efforts

Search and rescue teams worked tirelessly to locate the missing snowmobiler. Tragically, his body was found the following day by the dedicated searchers. The victim, a 46-year-old man from Magrath, Alberta, has since been identified, although his name has not been released to the public.

The community of Magrath, as well as the wider Alberta region, mourns the loss of the snowmobiler. His body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further investigations.
