Arrest Made in Connection to Fatal Shooting in Southeast Washington, D.C.

In a recent development, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection to a tragic shooting incident that occurred on Oct. 30, 2023, on the 4300 block of Halley Terrace, SE in Washington, D.C.

According to MPD reports, officers were called to the scene following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they were directed to Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue by a man who had sustained gunshot wounds. The injured individual was promptly taken to a nearby hospital and was listed in stable condition. Subsequently, another victim, identified as 23-year-old Melvin Dock Jr., arrived at the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

On Feb. 22, 21-year-old Maleek Thomas was apprehended and charged with first-degree murder while armed in connection to the shooting incident. The arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the tragic event that took place in Southeast D.C.
