Tragic Accident on I-95 in West Haven Claims Four Lives
A devastating accident occurred in New Haven County on the southbound side of Interstate 95 in West Haven, Connecticut in the early hours of Sunday, Feb. 25. The incident involved a Chevrolet Silverado traveling northbound in the southbound lanes, resulting in a series of collisions that tragically claimed the lives of four individuals.
Catastrophic Collision
According to Connecticut State Police, the Silverado collided with a Nissan Altima while driving in the left lane. Following this initial impact, the Silverado veered into the center lane and crashed into a southbound Nissan Sentra. The collision resulted in fatal injuries for the operator of the Silverado and the three occupants of the Altima.
Victims Identified
The individuals who lost their lives in the crash have been identified as:
- Kyle Bulkley, 26, from New Haven, the driver of the Silverado
- Huseim Alili, 25, from Wolcott, the driver of the Altima
- Jolie Lubin, 23, from Trumbull, a passenger in the Altima
- Samantha Birchard, 22, from Norwalk, also a passenger in the Altima
Severe Injuries
Two occupants of the Nissan Sentra, a 42-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman both from Dix Hills, Long Island, sustained life-threatening injuries and were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigation and Road Closure
Following the tragic incident, all lanes of I-95 were closed for several hours as authorities responded to the scene. The State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Squad arrived to assist in reconstructing the events leading up to the collision.
