A devastating turn of events unfolded near Anekal on the outskirts of Bengaluru, as the charred body of a 19-year-old engineering student was discovered by the police. The victim, identified as Harshit Kontala from Uttarakhand, was a student at Alliance College of Engineering and Design in Anekal.
The Mysterious Circumstances Surrounding the Incident
Kontala’s partially burnt body was found near a eucalyptus grove in Telagarahalli, located close to the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border. The Anekal police, who are investigating the case, have registered it as a murder and have initiated a thorough probe into the matter.
A Student Gone Missing
Harshit Kontala, a first-year student at the college, resided in the hostel located in Thally, Tamil Nadu, approximately 21 km away from Anekal. He was reported missing on February 21, having not attended any classes since his disappearance. CCTV footage revealed that he was last seen leaving the hostel premises with a backpack at 10.37 am on that fateful day.
A Desperate Search for Answers
Upon learning of his son’s disappearance, Kontala’s father, Subodh, filed a missing complaint at the Thally police station on February 23. The family’s worst fears were realized when the police discovered Harshit’s body in Telagarahalli village, surrounded by beer bottles and snack packets.
