A man from Tioga County, New York, has been charged with murder following a domestic incident that tragically resulted in the death of a woman. Michael Crandall, 36, has been charged with felony second-degree murder and three counts of second-degree criminal contempt by the New York State Police at Owego.

Details of the Incident

The incident took place on February 19th, when state troopers responded to a reported domestic dispute at 10 Debra Lee Drive in Apalachin. Upon arrival, troopers found an injured male and female at the scene. The woman, identified as 33-year-old Chrystal Crandall, succumbed to her injuries sustained during the altercation.

Michael Crandall was also injured during the incident and was subsequently transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment. He was charged with the aforementioned offenses following his release from the hospital.

Relationship between the Victims

While the state police did not specify the relationship between Michael and Chrystal Crandall, property records indicate that both individuals were owners of the residence where the tragic incident occurred.

Chrystal Crandall, originally from Ithaca and raised in Trumansburg, graduated from Charles O. Dickerson High School in 2008. She worked as a certified nursing assistant and is survived by three young children and other relatives.

Legal Proceedings

Michael Crandall has been arraigned on the charges and has been remanded to the Tioga County Jail as he awaits further court proceedings.
