BARRINGTON, R.I. – A somber discovery was made on Sunday night at Barrington Town Beach, where search crews located the body of a missing kayaker after an extensive search effort.
The kayaker, a 60-year-old man, was tragically found deceased, although officials have refrained from releasing his identity at this time. The man’s family has been informed of the heartbreaking outcome.
Search Efforts
Mike Healey, spokesperson for the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, confirmed to NBC-10 that the kayaker’s body was discovered on Barrington Beach. Multiple rescue boats and a helicopter were deployed to aid in the search, which led to the recovery of the partially submerged kayak.
The search operation commenced at Conimicut Point in Warwick around 5 p.m. on Sunday after the kayaker’s son raised concerns about his father’s whereabouts.
