ROCHESTER, UK (WROC) — The Office of the New York State Attorney General has released body-cam footage of a recent incident in East Bloomfield where a New York State Police trooper shot a 17-year-old suspect. The incident took place on November 15, 2023, on State Route 64.

The footage shows the trooper approaching a home in East Bloomfield and engaging in conversation with individuals present. The trooper then interacts with the 17-year-old suspect, who is seen taking something out of his pocket and charging at the trooper, ultimately tackling him to the ground. Multiple shots are heard, and the trooper can be heard calling for emergency medical services.

Following the shooting, the trooper can be heard instructing someone not to move, while another individual asks about the weapon used. The trooper explains that the suspect attempted to stab him before the individual inquires about the need for an ambulance. Unfortunately, the 17-year-old suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the OAG, the boy had charged at the trooper with a knife, leading to the use of lethal force. However, the grandfather of the deceased has raised concerns about the handling of the situation, particularly in relation to the mental health struggles the boy was facing.

The trooper involved in the incident has been identified as Adam Latulipe, a four-year veteran of the New York State Police.
