Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The Tragic Hit-and-Run Incident in Upper Chichester

In a devastating turn of events, a fatal hit-and-run incident occurred in Upper Chichester in July 2022, leaving the community in shock. The incident took place at mile marker 2.5 on I-95 north, where a 44-year-old man, Maurice Pinkard Sr., lost his life in a tragic accident.

The Scene of the Crime

State Trooper Zachariah J. Walter responded to the scene of the crash, where he found a tan Ford F-150 with damage on the driver’s side. The victim, Maurice Pinkard Sr., was found covered by a white sheet on the right shoulder of the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services personnel.

Witnesses reported that Pinkard had come to the aid of his wife, whose truck had broken down on the highway. His daughter had also arrived at the scene in her Chevy Cruze, setting up safety equipment to warn other drivers of the situation.

The Investigation Unfolds

State Police Cpl. Edmund Homa, a traffic accident reconstructionist, analyzed the scene and concluded that the striking vehicle was a 2015 or later F-150 XLT package truck. Through diligent investigation, law enforcement officers were able to track down surveillance footage that captured the suspect’s vehicle in the vicinity of the incident.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect as Anthony G. Borsello, a 73-year-old man from Wilmington, Delaware. Borsello’s license had been revoked at the time of the incident, adding another layer of complexity to the case.

The Arrest and Confession

After locating Borsello’s truck outside a grocery store in Delaware, investigators discovered evidence linking him to the hit-and-run. Borsello confessed to a friend that he was “scared to death” of being arrested for the crime, revealing a sense of guilt and remorse for his actions.

Despite his waiver of a preliminary hearing and the charges brought against him, Borsello remains in custody without bail. The formal arraignment is scheduled for April 3 at the county courthouse in Media, where the Deputy District Attorney Geoff Paine will prosecute the case.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of this tragic incident, justice must prevail to bring closure to the family of Maurice Pinkard Sr. and ensure accountability for the actions of the accused. The road to healing will be long, but with the support of law enforcement and the judicial system, we can hope for a resolution that honors the memory of the victim.
