An 18-year-old Petersburg man has been identified as the reckless driver who led Virginia State Police on a dangerous pursuit from Chesterfield County to Petersburg on Saturday, Feb. 24. The driver, Donovan T. Myrick, was speeding at 88 mph in a 60 mph zone on Interstate 95 southbound in Chesterfield when a state trooper attempted to pull him over for improper registration of his 2003 Infiniti G35.

Lengthy Police Chase

Despite the trooper’s attempt to stop him, Myrick sped away, initiating a lengthy chase that crossed through multiple jurisdictions, including Chesterfield and Colonial Heights, before coming to a crashing halt in Petersburg. The chase ended when Myrick crashed the Infiniti on Crater Road at Medical Park Boulevard.

Passengers Flee the Scene

Myrick was accompanied by three unidentified teenage boys, all of whom fled the vehicle after the crash. At the time of reporting, Myrick and two passengers have been taken into custody, while one remains at large. The two passengers in custody have not yet been charged.

Charges Against Myrick

Myrick faces several charges, including reckless driving, felony eluding in Chesterfield County, Colonial Heights, and Petersburg, driving with a revoked license, driving without insurance, failure to register a vehicle, and possessing forged license plates. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to search for the third teenager involved in the incident.
