Details of the Homer Glen Shooting Incident

On the night of 22nd February 2024, a disturbing incident unfolded in the peaceful neighbourhood of the Village of Homer Glen, located in Will County. Law enforcement officers from the Will County Sheriff’s Office were urgently summoned to the 12000 Block of Longmeadow Lane following reports of a shooting.

Quick Response and Victim’s Location

As the deputies hurried to the scene, they received information that the victim had fled in a vehicle and sought refuge in a church parking lot near the intersection of 167th Street and Wolf Road in the neighbouring Village of Orland Park. The victim, a twenty-five-year-old male from Hickory Hills, had sustained a gunshot wound to the back during the altercation.

Perpetrator Identified

Upon further investigation and speaking with the victim, it was revealed that the offender responsible for this heinous act was identified as Dominic A. Chiarelli, a 28-year-old resident of Homer Glen. The shooting transpired inside a vehicle parked in the driveway of Chiarelli’s residence.

Arrest and Charges

Swift action by the Will County Sheriff’s Office led to the apprehension of Chiarelli without any resistance. Subsequent searches of the residence uncovered a Taurus G3 9mm handgun, which was believed to be the weapon used in the shooting. Chiarelli was charged with offences including Aggravated Battery with a firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon, Battery, and No Valid FOID card.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude towards the Orland Park Police Department for their prompt assistance and aid provided to the victim at the location in their jurisdiction.
