Accident – Death – Obituary News :

On Thursday, the Taliban carried out a chilling dual public execution at a stadium in southeastern Afghanistan, where thousands of onlookers witnessed the brutal killings of two convicted men by the victims’ own relatives.

The incident took place at the Ali Lala area of Ghazni city, where a large crowd gathered outside the stadium, attempting to gain entry to witness the gruesome event.

Conviction and Execution

According to a court statement, the Taliban’s Supreme Court had ruled that the two men, Syed Jamal from central Wardak province and Gul Khan from Ghazni, were responsible for fatal stabbings in separate incidents. Three lower courts and the Taliban’s supreme leader, Hibatullah Akhundzada, authorized the executions as retribution for their alleged crimes.

Despite pleas from religious scholars for the victims’ relatives to pardon the convicts, they declined, leading to the execution of the two men.

Execution Details

Ghazni police spokesperson Abu Abu Khalid Sarhadi revealed that the victims’ relatives carried out the executions using firearms, with a total of 15 bullets discharged. Eight bullets were aimed at one man, and seven at the other. The bodies were later removed by ambulances from the scene.

International Condemnation

These public executions mark the third and fourth instances since the Taliban seized control in 2021 following the withdrawal of U.S. and NATO forces from Afghanistan. The United Nations has strongly condemned the Taliban for their implementation of public executions, floggings, and stonings, urging them to cease such practices.

During their previous rule in the late 1990s, the Taliban routinely carried out public executions, whippings, and stonings, drawing global criticism for their brutal methods.

As the Taliban continues to enforce their strict interpretation of Islamic law in Afghanistan, the international community remains vigilant in condemning such human rights violations.
