Gunfight in Downtown St. Cloud Leads to Second Arrest

St. Cloud police have announced a second arrest in connection with a gunfight that took place in a downtown parking lot over the weekend. The incident occurred in the 1300 block of West St. Germain Street, where officers responded to reports of shots fired just before 5:00 p.m.

Collaborative Effort Leads to Arrest

Officers from the St. Cloud Police Department, Community Response Team, and SWAT worked together to apprehend the 17-year-old suspect from St. Cloud. After days of tracking, the teenager was located in the 1200 block of East Division Street and taken into custody on Thursday.

The young individual has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, illegal gun possession, and second-degree assault. He is currently being held at the Stearns County jail awaiting further legal proceedings.

Details of the Incident

According to investigators, the gunfight was not a random occurrence. It is believed that one person approached another individual in the parking lot, leading to an immediate exchange of gunfire. Fortunately, no victims were found on the scene as everyone had fled by the time officers arrived.

Another individual involved in the incident, identified as 18-year-old Jatrell Robert Antonio Mitchell from St. Cloud, was arrested near Minneapolis earlier this week. He faces charges related to illegal possession of firearms and is also being held at the Stearns County jail.

As the investigation continues, St. Cloud police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in bringing all parties involved to justice.
