In a significant development, the final suspect in the fatal shooting at Magnolia Mall on Feb. 18 has been apprehended by authorities. Damarcus Legette, 18, turned himself in on Feb. 22, bringing a sense of closure to the tragic incident that shook the community.

Suspect Faces Multiple Charges

Legette is facing a slew of charges in connection with the shooting, including robbery/armed robbery, conspiracy, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and murder. He is currently being held at the Florence County Detention Center as the legal proceedings unfold.

Details of the Incident

According to the arrest warrant, surveillance footage captured Legette with two other suspects who were previously arrested in connection with the shooting. The trio was seen interacting with the victim, Avery S. McDonald, inside the mall before leaving and circling the parking lot in a golden Ford Escape.

Tragically, the situation escalated when two individuals from the Escape, both armed with guns, approached McDonald in his car and demanded valuables. This ultimately led to McDonald being shot in the chest and later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Arrests of Other Suspects

Following the incident, two other suspects were arrested on Feb. 19. Javon Norman, 18, and a 15-year-old male juvenile are also facing charges related to murder, armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and criminal conspiracy. The swift actions of law enforcement led to the apprehension of all individuals involved in the tragic event.
