Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A year ago in Murray, Utah, a heartbreaking incident took place that left Laurice Williamson mourning the loss of her daughter, Morgan Kay Harris. Harris, along with her beloved dog, tragically lost their lives in a storage unit fire on February 18.

A Devastating Loss

Williamson is still grappling with the pain of losing her daughter in such a horrific manner. She reflects on her grief, stating, “I have not gone one day without crying because I miss my daughter and the way she died was so horrific.”

The details of the incident are chilling. Murray Police arrived on the scene and discovered that the storage unit had been closed with Harris and her dog inside. The individual responsible, identified as Wardell, admitted to locking the unit before leaving the area. Tragically, a fire broke out after Wardell had left, resulting in the deaths of Harris and her dog.

Seeking Justice

Wardell was arrested for negligent homicide and kidnapping in connection to Harris’s death. However, over a year later, charges have yet to be filed against him. Williamson is frustrated by the lack of progress in the case, stating, “I don’t know when charges will be filed, I don’t know what charges are going to be filed.”

Despite Wardell currently serving a prison sentence for unrelated charges, Williamson continues to wait for justice to be served for her daughter. Salt Lake County District Attorney, Sim Gill, explained that the screening process for such cases can vary based on available evidence and additional investigation requirements.

A Call for Action

As Williamson waits for closure, she urges lawmakers and the community to take action to prevent similar tragedies from occurring. She highlights the importance of supporting legislation and advocating for domestic violence victims to ensure their safety.

Reflecting on her efforts to raise awareness, Williamson emphasizes the need for more people to actively engage in creating change. She urges individuals to show up for important events, write to legislators, and stay informed about relevant issues.

As the investigation continues, Williamson remains hopeful that justice will be served for her daughter, Morgan Kay Harris. In the meantime, she is determined to honour her memory and fight for a safer future for others.
