Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The Shooting Incident in Northeast Washington, D.C.

On February 21, DC Superior Court Judge Renee Raymond made a crucial decision during a presentment hearing involving a shooting defendant. The defendant in question, Kamaree Robinson, 20, faces charges of assault with intent to kill and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. The charges stem from an incident that took place on the 3900 block of Minnesota Avenue, NE, on August 23, 2023, where one individual sustained injuries.

The Scene of the Crime

Court documents reveal that the victim was seated outside the Subway Sandwich shop when Robinson, riding a bicycle, approached, fired a gunshot at the victim, and quickly fled the scene. This brazen act of violence left the victim wounded and in need of medical attention, highlighting the alarming nature of the crime.

Legal Proceedings

During the hearing, Robinson’s attorney, Wole Faldoun, argued that his client had not been positively identified as the shooter at the time of the incident. Instead, Robinson was identified based on the clothing he was wearing rather than his facial features. However, the prosecution raised concerns about Robinson’s involvement in a separate case of domestic burglary, indicating a pattern of criminal behaviour.

Judge’s Decision

Despite the defence’s arguments, Judge Raymond found sufficient evidence to establish probable cause linking Robinson to the shooting. As a result, Robinson was ordered to remain in custody pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for February 29, to be presided over by DC Superior Court Judge Anthony Epstein.

Robinson’s detention serves as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety and prevent any further harm to the community. As the legal process unfolds, more details may emerge to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this troubling incident.
