Tragic Incident in Dwarka, Southwest Delhi

An 83-year-old woman tragically lost her life and her granddaughter sustained severe injuries in a heartbreaking incident that took place in a residential building in Dwarka, southwest Delhi. The incident occurred on Wednesday when a fire broke out in their apartment, forcing them to take drastic measures to save themselves.

The elderly woman, Jasuri Devi, and her granddaughter, 30-year-old Pooja Pant, found themselves in a life-threatening situation when a gas leak sparked a fire in their fourth-floor apartment. As the flames engulfed the building, the two women made a split-second decision to jump from the balcony to escape the inferno.

Quick Response from Delhi Fire Services

Upon receiving reports of the blaze in the residential building in Dwarka Sector 10, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) swiftly mobilized six fire engines to the scene. The firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the flames and bring the situation under control.

DFS chief Atul Garg revealed that the fire had spread to two different flats on the fourth and fifth floors of the building. Despite the valiant efforts of the fire brigade, Jasuri Devi succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Meanwhile, Pooja Pant is currently receiving medical treatment for her injuries.
