Authorities in Lancaster have identified the 3-year-old boy whose neck was slashed earlier this week, and the investigation into his death is ongoing. The young victim, David Jacques Hernandez of Lancaster, tragically passed away at a hospital following the horrific incident.

The Scene of the Crime

Deputies rushed to the 43400 block of 57th Street West, located south of Avenue K, after receiving a distress call just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday. Upon their arrival, they discovered the male juvenile with a severe laceration to his neck. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is treating this case as a homicide.

A Heartbreaking Discovery

According to sources cited by the Los Angeles Times, the young boy was found in a bathtub with his throat slit. The body was found by a family friend who had been asked to check on the child by a relative. In a shocking turn of events, the live-in boyfriend of the child’s mother, Rena Naulls, was also found at the scene in a state of distress.

Naulls, who is considered a person of interest in the case, was rushed to the hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition. Meanwhile, the sheriff’s department has taken custody of three other children who were present in the home at the time of the incident. These children, aged 9, 11, and 14, are unharmed and are now under the care of the county Department of Children and Family Services.
