Accident – Death – Obituary News :

PUEBLO — The co-owner of Kings Storage facility in Pueblo, Julie Brekke, recently shared the shocking discovery made on her property exactly one month ago. While she has dealt with challenging tenants in the past, nothing compares to what was uncovered on West 6th Street.

The Tragic Discovery

Police found the remains of a child encased in concrete inside a metal container in one of the storage units. The child was identified as Yesenia Dominguez, who was last seen in 2018. Two weeks later, the remains of her brother, Jesus Dominguez Jr., were found in a suitcase in the trunk of a vehicle at a local scrapyard. Despite being missing for years, no reports were made about their disappearance.

Pueblo Police

Pueblo Police said Jesus Dominguez Jr.’s body was found inside a suitcase in the trunk of a car at a Pueblo scrapyard in February. Police said he was approximately five years old when he was last seen.

Suspects Arrested

Police discovered that the vehicle found at the scrapyard belonged to 36-year-old Corena Rose Minjarez, who, along with the children’s father, 35-year-old Jesus Dominguez, has been arrested. The couple, who were in a relationship, now face charges of two counts of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse.

A Chilling Encounter

Brekke revealed that she had been renting a storage unit to Minjarez for a few years. When Minjarez stopped paying the bill in November of 2023, she was evicted from the unit. Despite giving notice, the couple did not collect their belongings. It was only when Minjarez’s mother showed up that the metal container filled with concrete was discovered.

\”She wanted me to go down and see what I thought about it, and I went down. I said, ‘Yeah, that does look a little suspicious. You know, but you need to probably call the police,’\” Brekke shared. \”You have your suspicions that there’s probably something there, but you really don’t want to go to the dark side.\”

Continuing Despite Trauma

Unable to discern the contents of the container due to the concrete, Pueblo Police processed it and found Yesenia’s remains inside. Brekke expressed how the dark discovery has bonded her closer to the suspect’s mother.

\”My heart bleeds for Corena’s mom, as a mom myself, because I couldn’t imagine what if one of my kids did that,\” she said. Despite the tragedy, Brekke continues to run the family business, always remembering the young girl whose life was tragically cut short.

\”I just take a deep breath and I just come in and I just keep forging forward,\” she shared. \”I think about her every day I come in here. I’m sure her little spirit’s around here somewhere.\”

Legal Proceedings

Jesus Dominguez and Corena Minjarez are set to make their first court appearances on Wednesday morning to face the charges brought against them.
