SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the tragic homicide of a 1-year-old child named Taidyn Anderson from Wichita, as reported by Andrew Ford, the spokesperson for the Wichita Police Department.

The devastating incident took place at an apartment located in the 2500 block of S. Oliver in Wichita. Officer Kris Gupilan stated that the police received a distressing shooting call just after 7 p.m. on Monday.

Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered three gunshot victims inside the apartment. The victims included two 24-year-old women and the 1-year-old child, all residents of Wichita. They were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

While the two women sustained critical but non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, tragically, the 1-year-old child succumbed to their injuries.

Aside from the three victims, the apartment also housed a 24-year-old man, a 5-year-old girl, and a 10-month-old girl, all from Wichita, at the time of the shooting. Thankfully, they were unharmed during the terrifying ordeal.

Based on the ongoing police investigation, it has been determined that the perpetrator discharged multiple rounds from a handgun into the apartment, resulting in the tragic injuries sustained by the victims. The motive behind the shooting is still under scrutiny, and detectives are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the suspect.

Presently, the available evidence suggests that this was a targeted attack, according to the Wichita Police Department.

Expressing his profound sorrow and indignation, Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan remarked, “The killing of a 1-year-old child is an unspeakable tragedy that has left us all shaken. This senseless act of violence strikes at the core of our community’s values. Our children should be cherished and protected, not subjected to such senseless acts.”

In light of this harrowing incident, the Wichita Police Department is urging anyone in possession of pertinent information regarding the case to come forward and assist the investigators. They can do so by contacting the WPD Investigators at 316-268-4407 or by submitting an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
