The Tragic Incident in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala

In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 36-year-old woman and her newborn baby lost their lives during childbirth in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The woman, identified as Sameera Beevi from Karakkamandapam in Nemom, tragically passed away as her husband, Nayas, forced her to have a home birth using unconventional methods.

The Heartbreaking Details of the Incident

Sameera and Nayas, who have three children together, made the decision to have a home birth despite being advised otherwise by medical professionals and authorities. With the assistance of Nayas’ first wife and her daughter, who is studying acupuncture, Sameera went into labour on February 20 at around 3 pm.

As the hours passed, Sameera began to experience severe bleeding and eventually fainted. She was rushed to a nearby private hospital in an ambulance, but unfortunately, she was declared brought dead by the doctors.

The Refusal to Seek Medical Help

It has been reported that Nayas and Sameera were advised by multiple individuals, including neighbours, ASHA workers, a ward councillor, and police officials, to seek professional medical assistance for the childbirth. However, Nayas stubbornly refused these recommendations and insisted on following instructions from YouTube videos for the home birth.

The tragic incident has left the community in shock and raised concerns about the dangers of unattended home births and the importance of seeking proper medical care during childbirth.
