Man in South Dakota charged with beating and poisoning neighbors’ dogs

The disturbing incidents took place in December of last year, when reports surfaced of Geier trespassing on his neighbors’ properties on multiple occasions. The Turner County police responded to the reports and issued an arrest warrant for Geier on January 11, 2024.

According to court documents, a deputy from Turner County was called to the scene after one of the neighbors, referred to as Resident 1, witnessed Geier chasing their dog with a baseball bat. Resident 1 later discovered that their dog’s water bowl had been contaminated with a green substance, leading them to suspect that Geier had poisoned the water.

Even more disturbingly, Geier had also targeted another neighbor’s dogs, identified as Resident 2, the week before. Tragically, one of Resident 2’s dogs passed away shortly after the attack, showing signs of poisoning upon examination by a veterinarian.

Resident 2 recounted how Geier not only assaulted her dogs with the bat but also caused damage to her front door. The violent attack left one of her dogs with a fractured leg, rendering the poor animal unable to put weight on the affected limb.

When law enforcement officers arrived at Geier’s residence, they found the baseball bat leaning against a wall. Due to concerns about Geier being armed and having a history of threatening behaviour towards law enforcement, additional backup was requested.

Following his arrest, Geier was released on a $500 bond under strict conditions. These conditions include a prohibition on contacting Resident 2, trespassing on private property, and a requirement to abide by all laws and maintain communication with his attorney.
