Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Ontario’s air ambulance service, Ornge, has issued a warning about a recent door-to-door scam in the areas of Ancaster and Scarborough. The organization took to social media to alert the public about fake canvassers posing as Ornge representatives and soliciting donations.

Stay Vigilant

Ornge made it clear that they do not engage in door-to-door canvassing or solicit donations in this manner. They urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. This warning comes in the wake of similar fraudulent schemes targeting health-care organizations in the past.

Past Incidents

In a previous incident in November 2023, a man was reported to have gone door-to-door in downtown Toronto, claiming to collect cash donations on behalf of the SickKids Foundation. The individual would intimidate residents and become aggressive when questioned about his legitimacy. Following an investigation, a suspect was charged in connection with the scam.

Ornge’s Response

Ornge reiterated that they do not partake in door-to-door fundraising and advised the public to be cautious when approached by individuals claiming to represent the organization. The air ambulance service remains committed to its mission of providing critical care services to the people of Ontario.

As incidents of fraudulent canvassing continue to surface, it is essential for residents to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of any charitable appeals made at their doorstep. By staying informed and reporting suspicious activities, the community can help prevent such scams from taking advantage of unsuspecting individuals.
