Tragedy struck in Texas over the weekend and on Monday, as two separate fatal wrecks resulted in the loss of two individuals, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The first incident took place on Saturday, Feb. 17 in Reeves County, where 29-year-old Katarina Franco from Pecos, TX, tragically lost her life in a one-vehicle accident. Franco was driving westbound on Business-20 near mile marker 228 when her 2011 Ford Focus veered off the road, causing the vehicle to roll over.
According to initial reports, Franco was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the incident and was partially ejected from the vehicle. The authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, and further details are awaited.
The second tragic event occurred on Monday, Feb. 19 in Martin County, near the intersection of State Highway 176 and Farm Market Road 3033. 24-year-old Martin Ricky Gomez from Laveen, AZ, lost his life in a two-vehicle wreck.
According to the preliminary investigation, Gomez was travelling northbound on Farm Market Road 3033 in a 2015 Ford Fiesta when he disregarded a stop sign and entered the intersection of FM 3033 and State Highway 176. This resulted in a collision with a 2023 GMC 2500 pickup driven by 45-year-old Miguel Angel Dominguez, who was travelling westbound on State Highway 176.
It was reported that Gomez was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, while Dominguez, who was wearing his seatbelt, escaped without any injuries. The authorities are actively investigating the incident, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
